Boating Access Site/Launch - Access for boating and fishing.: Carry-in access to Pigeon River at campground. Gravel ramp to Pickerel Lake at Pickerel Lake State Forest Campground for electric motors or non-motorized craft only.

Pickerel Lake (4 miles West):Bass, Bluegill, Rainbow Trout.
Hiking: State Forest Pathways: Shingle Mill (on site): 14 miles consisting of 5 loops ranging from 3/4 - 11 miles in length. Flat to hilly terrain. Hike.
High Country (1/2 miles West): Over 80 miles of flat to very hilly terrain connecting 8 State Forest Campgrounds winding through scenic Pigeon River Country.
Mountain Biking: State Forest Pathways: Shingle Mill (on site): 14 miles consisting of 5 loops ranging from 3/4 - 11 miles in length. Flat to hilly terrain. Hike.
High Country (1/2 miles West): Over 80 miles of flat to very hilly terrain connecting 8 State Forest Campgrounds winding through scenic Pigeon River Country.
Designated Watchable Wildlife Site: This campground is set within Pigeon River Country, home to the largest free-roaming elk herd east of the Mississippi River. Several viewing sites have been established where elk are known to gather and can be often be viewed from the car along road routes. Some of the best viewing opportunities are in September and from late April to early May.
