Lake Gogebic State Park

Lake Gogebic State Park covers 360 acres and nearly a mile of lake frontage on the west shore of the largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula. About 30 campsites are located directly on the lake front and the rest are nestled among the trees, not more than 100 yards from the lake.

Activities at Lake Gogebic State Park

Fishing: The angler will find excellent fishing for perch, walleye, smallmouth bass and northern pike. The local area chamber of commerce hosts fishing tournaments annually on Lake Gogebic. For more information on these events please click here.
Hiking: Two mile scenic nature trail that loops back to the campgrounds.
Swimming: Large, sandy beach available for swimming and sunbathing.
Cross Country Ski: Three mile ski loop is not groomed.
Metal Detecting Areas: Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that do not damage the natural and cultural resources in Michigan State Parks nor violate applicable state statutes. If you wish to use a metal detector in this state park, here is a map that shows clearly where this activity may take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation.
